Transforming Faridabad's Gateway: The Jamai Colony Afforestation Project
In 2026, Save Aravali Trust embarked on one of its most ambitious ecological restoration initiatives yet - the Jamai Colony Afforestation Project.
Located on the Main Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, at the very entrance of Faridabad, this site occupies a strategically important position.

For years, nearly 25 acres of public land had been encroached upon by illegal jhuggis and unauthorized workshops, resulting in environmental degradation, loss of green cover, and a poor first impression for visitors entering the city.
Following the successful clearance of these encroachments by the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF), a unique opportunity emerged: to transform this degraded land into a thriving native forest and create a green gateway to Faridabad.
This vision is being realized through a collaborative partnership between Save Aravali Trust, the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, and the Rotary Club, bringing together civil society, local government, and community leadership for ecological restoration at scale.

From Encroachment to Ecological Restoration
Rather than allowing the land to fall back into neglect, Save Aravali Trust and its partners have come together to create a vibrant ecological landscape that will benefit both people and nature.
The project aims to:
By focusing exclusively on native species adapted to the Aravali ecosystem, the project will ensure long-term ecological sustainability while minimizing maintenance requirements.

The project aims to:
- Develop approximately 25 acres of native forest.
- Plant more than 10,000 indigenous trees and shrubs.
- Create small water bodies to support biodiversity and groundwater recharge.
- Improve local air quality and reduce urban heat.
- Provide habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
- Establish a green landmark at the entrance of Faridabad.

A Partnership for Environmental Transformation
The Jamai Colony Afforestation Project demonstrates what can be achieved when institutions work together toward a shared environmental goal.
An Invitation to Build a Legacy
The restoration of the Aravalis and the creation of urban forests cannot be achieved by governments and civil society alone. It requires partnerships between citizens, institutions, and responsible businesses.
Save Aravali Trust invites corporates, CSR teams, foundations, and sustainability leaders to join us in transforming this 25-acre site into a model of ecological restoration for Delhi NCR.
Together with the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad and the Rotary Club, we aim to create a forest that will improve air quality, recharge groundwater, support biodiversity, and welcome future generations to a greener Faridabad.
The Jamai Colony Afforestation Project demonstrates what can be achieved when institutions work together toward a shared environmental goal.
- The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad played a critical role by reclaiming the encroached land and enabling its ecological restoration.
- The Rotary Club has extended valuable support in advancing the vision of creating a large-scale urban forest for the city.
- Save Aravali Trust is leading the planning, plantation, ecological restoration, and long-term nurturing of the forest ecosystem.
Together, these partners are laying the foundation for a landmark environmental project that will serve Faridabad for generations to come.
Building Faridabad's Green Gateway
Every city deserves a welcoming entrance that reflects its aspirations and values.
The Jamai Colony site is uniquely positioned to become Faridabad's Green Gateway - a living demonstration of how degraded urban land can be transformed into a thriving ecosystem.
Thousands of commuters travel along the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road every day. Instead of passing abandoned land and environmental degradation, they will witness a growing forest that symbolizes regeneration, resilience, and collective action.
The project will not only enhance the city's image but also contribute meaningfully to climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and groundwater recharge in one of India's most environmentally stressed urban regions.

Why Corporate Participation Matters
Creating and nurturing a forest is not a one-time activity. It requires years of careful planning, plantation, watering, protection, and ecological monitoring before the ecosystem becomes self-sustaining.
This is where responsible corporate participation can make a transformative difference.
